Sentence structures
The formal language register makes use of complex sentence structures, with relative clauses and participle structures.
Style
It is a dense, compact style, using precise, concise language with the purpose of being objective.
Vocabulary
Its vocabulary consists of abstract nouns, shortens phrases to expressions and focuses a lot on choice of vocabulary.
Style
The semi-formal register is a mix of formal and informal styles: it uses formal but also common expressions.
Use
It is often used for marketing, in brochures, emails or advertisement, it addresses the reader directly.
Vocabulary
The vocabulary used includes many formal expressions, but also idioms and a lot of positive language, especially adjectives and adverbs.
